Few would argue that Orange County has more dollar stores per capita than either Jefferson or Hardin County. But our lead (tongue in cheek) took a hit with the announcement of another Family Dollar Store closing in the Northway Shopping Center. They have been there for about five years.
The store announced its closing with a storewide 30% off sale and that will soon go to 50%. The closing date for the location will be around August 24. This comes after another Family Dollar in the 1300 block of 16th St. closed two months ago.
Back in March, Dollar Tree, which owns the Family Dollar chain, announced that approximately 600 locations would be closing this year. Employees at the Family Dollar location on Strickland say that they’re told the Pinehurst location will remain open.
