Doris Marie Kidd Burnitt, 87, of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 2, 2024, at her home in Orange.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Glenn James. Burial will follow at Nibletts Bluff Cemetery in Vinton, Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on May 25, 1937, she was the daughter of Young Smith Kidd, Sr. and Willa Mae Guidry Kidd. Doris dedicated many years of her life to serving as cafeteria worker at Little Cypress Mauriceville CISD. Her hard work and dedication brightened the days of countless students and staff members. Beyond her career, Doris had a fondness for mowing and caring for her yard & attending to plants in her greenhouse. Faith played a central role in Doris’s life, providing her with strength and comfort during both joyful and challenging times. Her unwavering relationship with Jesus uplifted her spirits and guided her actions every day. Above all, Doris took immense joy in being a grandmother to her grandchildren. She showered them with love, wisdom, and endless support, creating treasured memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Burnitt; her daughter, Debbie Ward; her son, John Burnitt; two sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy R. Burnitt and wife, Juanita, of Orange, Donya Singletary and husband, John, of Florida, and Jerry Burnitt and wife, Debbie, of Orange; her son-in-law, Steve Ward, of Pensacola, Florida; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her nieces, Judy, Jeanie, Suzie, and Angie; her nephews, Glenn, Brian, Steve, Sherry, and Kerry Paul; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Mabe, Johnathan Mabe, Jacob Mabe, and Kenny Dugas.
