On July 6, professional boxer Shock Foster of Orange lost a controversial split decision to Robson Conceicao in a title bout in New Jersey.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said that the WBC board of governors has ruled that the two super featherweights should have a direct rematch. A date for the rematch was not announced.
Judges Paul Wallace and Anthony Lundy scored the fight 115-113 and 116-112 in favor of Conceicao, respectively, while judge Ron McNair scored 116-112 for Foster.
The loss ended Foster’s 12-fight winning streak and was his first since July 2016. The decision drew criticism from many. Boxer Regis Prograis called the decision “one of the biggest robberies ever in boxing history”.
