Milford Max Crosby, 90, of Orange, Texas, joined the love of his life in Heaven on July 17, 2024.
Memorial services for Max and Martha will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Deweyville. Officiating will be Reverend Damon Bickham.
Born in Coy, Missouri, on August 13, 1933, he was the son of Herbert L. Crosby and Elva Ruth (Tipton) Crosby. Milford went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War demonstrating his commitment and honor to his country. After his service, Milford followed his calling in various careers that showcased his versatility and ethic. He served as a police officer in the1960s, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of his community. Milford was a master carpenter, and he built some of his own homes which brought him great joy. In 1970s he transitioned to working for American Ship Building, where he continued to excel in his responsibilities. By the1980s, he took on the role of guard at the TDCJ prison system, further exemplifying his sense of responsibility and service.
Known for his witty personality, he had a way of brightening up any room with his presence. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Outside of work, Milford found solace in meaningful activities. One of his favorite pastimes was reading his bible every morning while enjoying a cup of coffee lovingly made by Martha. This routine brought peace and comfort throughout the years. Sadly, Milford passed just six days after losing his beloved wife. Their departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew them. Their love, hard work, and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of crossing paths with them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ruth Crosby; loving wife of almost 50 years, Martha Mae Crosby; son, Russell Lee Crosby; and his stepdaughter, Marchia Snyder.
Max is survived by his children, Terry Jean Skillman and husband, Paul of Lewisville, Texas, and Milford Max Crosby, Jr. and wife, Lynn of Rockwall, Texas, and Paralee and husband Boyd Ray Norton of Maypearl, Texas; stepchildren, Rebecca Lynn Joiner and husband, Raymond of Orange, David Lee Johnson of Orange, Chris Johnson of Orange, and Robert Wayne Johnson and wife, Rosalyn of Greenville, Texas; his siblings, Delores Blevins, Eddie Crosby, Judy Phillips, and Linda Orcutt; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
