Carey Don Stark enriched the lives of those around him with his remarkable character, unmatched work ethic, generous heart and warm sense of humor. He exemplified what it meant to be an amazing husband, father and grandfather. A great friend to many, Carey was always there for his family and friends, dependable and loving to the core.
Carey was married for 48 years to his high school sweetheart, best friend and love of his life, Teri Sims Stark. Carey will be dearly missed by his 2 boys Casey Stark and Keith Stark and daughters-in-law, Leah Guillotte-Stark & Paige Stark. He was the best “Pop” ever to his four precious grandchildren, Anson, Ella, Sadie and Marion Stark, who adored him beyond measure.
Born on November 25, 1955, Carey was a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas, an outstanding high school athlete, graduating from LCM high school in 1975. He worked for DuPont for 37 years, retiring as a Machinist from the High Precision Shop in 2013. A hard worker and devoted provider, Carey was a talented welder, carpenter, machine operator, and Jack of All Trades.
From building furniture and cabinets to houses, welding projects to metal boats, there wasn’t much Carey couldn’t design & build once he put his mind to it. You could find him most days working in his shop, visiting with family and friends who stopped by for help with a project or just to visit a while. An avid hunter and fisher, he enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family, sharing his love of the outdoors.
He & Teri were members of Trinity Baptist Church. Born with a heart of gold, Carey found a passion for serving others in volunteering with the Deep East Texas Disaster Relief Team and deployed with pride for the Texas Baptist Men. Whenever the call came in, as long as his family was safe and secure, Carey was the first to respond with TBM. Not only did he bless his team with his knowledge of chainsaw work and rigging, but used his talent in machine operating to help those in need of tree removal from disastrous situations. He loved to be part of ‘the help, the hope, and the healing’ of the TBM organization. His willingness to become the hands and feet of Christ was a testimony to all he encountered.
To know Carey was to love him. He had the warmest smile and gave the best hugs. A man of boundless generosity, unwavering dedication to his family, and an enormous heart, he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Carey is proceeded in death by his parents Robert Stark and Anna Weaver Stark; siblings: Jim Stark, Jerry Stark, Babette Stark Harris & Gwen Stark Taylor and parents-in-law, Ralph Sims & Jewel Ann Morgan Sims.
