Bobby Lee Stephens, age 80, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in Port Arthur, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church of Deweyville; Pastor John Fortenberry officiating. Rite of committal and interment will immediately follow, at King Cemetery. Visitation of family and friends will be held prior to service, from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM. Arrangements were made under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
On Friday, March 24, 1944, Bobby Stephens was born to Edgar and Ruth Stephens, in Orange, Texas. Bobby graduated from Deweyville High School, in 1963. After high school, Bobby went to Blinn Jr. College, from where he hitchhiked home and began a career in construction; working out of Local 195 until his retirement. Bobby worked around the United States, including going overseas to the Philippines. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shrimping, and being outdoors. Bobby was always willing to help his friends and family, and was the life of the party.
Bobby is preceded in death by his mom, Ruth Stephens; father, Edgar Stephens; brother, Edgar Wayne Stephens, Jr.; sister, Patsy Gordon; brother-in-law, Ezra Gordon; and nephew, Shane Jones.
Those left to cherish Bobby are his beloved wife, June Stephens; daughter, Bobbie Burton; son-in-law, Troy Burton; Grandson Roeh Burton; sister, Christine Willis; brother-in-law, Wayne Willis; and numerous members of extended family, and friends.
