The only people smiling more than the Bridge City softball coaches are the coaches at the University of Kentucky. Future Wildcat Carson Fall throws another No-Hitter as the Lady Cards beat Lufkin Hudson 5-1 in Jasper Wednesday night.
Fall gave up one run on two walks, no hits and 17 strikeouts. She threw 84 pitches, 64 for strikes.
Cards got things going in the third. They loaded the bases on a walk, hit batter and an error. Anna Autrey singles to bring in one run and then Brooklyn Droddy singles to drive in two more. Cambree LaComb puts the ball in play to bring home a run to make it 4-0 after three.
Hudson responded in the top of the fourth with a run. Following a walk and two stolen bases, Hudson scores on an error throw to make it 4-1. But that’s as close as they would get with Fall in the circle.
BC would add an insurance run in the fifth. Just like in the third, Autrey and Droddy would provide back to back hits. Makenna Knight lined out to the first baseman, allowing K Sheffield, running for Autrey, to score.
The game was originally set for Thursday but it was moved to Wednesday with possible thunderstorms scheduled on May 2.
The Cards are looking at a date against 2023 State Finalist Liberty next week. BC improves to 29-7-1.
