In recent days a man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Orange and another man was found dead in his vehicle following an accident in his Jeep. Those men have now been identified.
On Monday, April 29th, 2024, deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1500 block of Texla Road in Vidor in reference to a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, deputies observed a Jeep rolled over onto the passenger side of the vehicle. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety, was called in to investigate the scene further. The driver, a white male, was later confirmed to be deceased and has been identified as 67-year-old Donald Looney. This case remains open pending final autopsy, however, at this time no obvious signs of foul play are present.

On April 25 at 10:55 p.m. the driver of a 2017 Toyota Camry, identified as Cameron Williams, 30, of Harlingen, Tx., was traveling east and struck a pedestrian who entered the roadway. The pedestrian died at the scene. The name of the deceased is Larry Baxter Jones II, 53, of Louisiana.
