The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a fatality crash on Interstate Highway 10 east, near the 861-mile marker, that occurred today, March 11, 2024.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 11:15 a.m., a 2016 Ram 2500 was traveling east, followed by a 2023 Nissan Murano, both traveling in the inside lane. It is reported that a 2021 Ram 1500 was traveling west in the eastbound lane and struck the 2016 Ram head-on. Both units veered left and were both struck by the Nissan Murano.
The driver of the 2016 Ram pickup was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Their passenger was pronounced deceased on scene by Justice of the Peace Price, Precinct 4. Both are from Houston.
The driver of the 2021 Ram 1500, James Wyatt, 60, of Orange, was pronounced deceased on scene by Justice of the Peace Price, Precinct 4.
The driver and two passengers in the Nissan were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Their information is not immediately available.
