Draped in the purple colors of Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, the Gisela Houseman Medical Complex was celebrated with a ribbon cutting and Open House.
The facility, located on the southeast corner of the I-10 and Hwy. 62 intersection. The project was started after Gisela Houseman donated the 20 acres of land, known as Eagle Point, several years ago.
Longtime Orange Physician Dr. Marty Rutledge led a group who put the deal together. NexCore, out of Colorado, built the facility. Christus is its largest tenant, providing 24 hour emergency service and imaging.
Other doctors and healthcare businesses will fill the rest of the 55,000 sq. ft. professional building. They’re also supposed to finish a road that runs to Hwy. 62 so there are two ways to access the facility.
The greater Orange Area has been without a hospital since Baptist Hospital closed their doors on Strickland Drive in January 2017.
