
Marian Frances Duhon (Young), who passed away on December 24th, 2023, at the age of 71 in Midlothian, Texas, left a lasting imprint of love and kindness on many lives. Born on June 27th, 1952, in Orange, Texas, Marian’s warmth and vibrant personality were cherished by all who knew her. Her captivating smile, radiant green eyes, and outgoing nature welcomed everyone into her world, a world filled with boundless affection for others.
In 1980, after attending a transformative Marriage Encounter weekend with George, Marian dedicated herself to supporting engaged couples at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Her commitment extended to teaching CCD classes and serving as a cherished Eucharist Minister to the homebound.
Marian’s legacy lives on through her beloved husband of 52 years, George Duhon, their daughter Nikki Clayton and son-in-law Randy Clayton, daughter Sarah Morris and son-in-law Lyndon Morris, Jr., son Robert Duhon, and her eight adoring grandchildren: Devin Williamson, Tanner Clayton, Noah Clayton, Mason Potter, Gracie Clayton, Kamryn Potter, Aaron Morris, and Addison Morris. She is also survived by her sisters Glenda Jean Lucia of Orange, TX, and Nancy Marie Smith of Houma, LA, along with brothers-in-law John Lucia and David Smith. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, C.J. and Earline Young, and her brothers Robert Young and Anthony Young.
Marian graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Orange in 1970 and pursued studies at Lamar University. Her life journey intertwined with George’s when they met in 1967, culminating in their marriage on July 25th, 1971. Following their marriage, they ventured to San Bernardino, California, where Marian attended dental assisting school, initiating her career in the dental field. With the birth of their first child, Nikki, in 1976, they returned to Texas and became active members of Holy Spirit Parish.
Her devotion to nurturing her children led her to focus on their upbringing before returning to a career as a dental assistant, dedicating 27 years to her profession. In July 2017, she was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s, embarking on a challenging cognitive journey.
Marian’s zest for life was evident in her love for people, especially her family, her passion for travel, her joy in gardening, and her unwavering faith in the Catholic tradition. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
