District 3 State Senator Robert Nichols (R) of Jacksonville was recently presented with the “Legislator of the Year” award by the Texas Municipal League (TML). District 3 includes Orange County and other East Texas cities and counties.
Senator Nichols is being recognized for his leadership and service on behalf of all Texas cities during this year’s regular legislative session and special sessions. The award was announced at the TML Annual Conference held in Dallas in October. Over 3300 delegates from cities across the state were on hand at the conference when TML President David Rutledge, Mayor of Bridge City, made the announcement.
“It is a great honor to announce the selection of Senator Nichols, OUR Senator, as ‘Legislator of the Year’”, Mayor Rutledge stated, “to show our appreciation for his service and to recognize his leadership in the Texas Senate for all Texans.”
The Texas Municipal League is an organization of nearly all 1200 incorporated cities in Texas and 13,000 + elected officials and city staff.
