Ann was born October 17, 1936 in New Iberia, Louisiana , to Clarence “Bing” Barrilleaux and Helen Comeaux. She moved to Port Arthur when she was sixteen. Four years later she met and married Gene Smith. After dating only a few months, they were married for 59 years before his death. They made their home in Bridge City for thirteen years where they raised their three daughters, before moving to Nichols Creek in Buna. That’s where all the memories were made for her grandchildren and later great great-grandchildren who called her Granny. She would make them whatever they wanted to eat, even if that meant making each one a different meal. That was the one thing she enjoyed the most was having family around, that and a good game of dominos and she looked forward to bingo days at Mill Creek. Most days she could be found listening to old country music and her favorite singer Elvis Presley. She might not be able to remember what she wanted to tell you but she could sing any Elvis tune without missing a beat. You also never knew what was going to come out of her mouth or when, which led to lots of laughs over the years.
Preceding Ann are her parents and husband; siblings, Carroll Barrilleaux, Clarence ‘Beb” Barrilleaux Jr., Charley Barrilleaux, Odelle Walker, Emily Dutil, Elizabeth “Tot” Antriken, Elridge “Lolo” Barrilleaux and Russell Barrilleaux; son in laws, Bob Melich and Dirk Flowers.
