
Bernice Robinson Franklin was born in Centerville, TX on January 14, 1928. Growing up she was raised by her grandmother in Centerville and later relocated to Galveston, TX to be raised by her oldest sister.
Bernice graduated high school in Elkhart, TX. She furthered her education at Huston-Tillotson University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree. While attending HTU, she met the love of her life and prince charming, Eddie W. Franklin. They were united in holy matrimony.
Bernice later relocated to Orange, TX to begin her teaching career for Orange Independent School District. Determined and ambitious, she took summer classes at Texas Southern University in Houston, TX until she completed and obtained a Master of Arts degree. Bernice retired from WOCCISD in 1988 after teaching 9th grade for 33 years.
Bernice was a dedicated member of Salem United Methodist Church and served faithfully for many years.
Bernice was a beloved and devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. for 76 years.
On July 14, 2023, Bernice’s life journey of 95 blessed and beautiful years ended to be with her lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Franklin, brothers, sisters, sisters-in-law, James Etta, Magnolia, and Helen Franklin, and niece Etta Norman.
Bernice leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her loving memories her two sons, Eddie II of Houston, TX, and Michael (Aileen) of Orange TX, sister in law Annie L. Robinson of Forth Worth, TX, seven grandchildren: James(Sharay), Ericka, Derrick(Chi), Eddie III, and Kimberly all of Houston, TX and Chatana(Jousha) of Orange, TX, and eleven great-grandchildren: Jahreese, Jordan, Omar Milan, A’via, Jenesis, (Christopher, Kennedy, Laylah, Reign, and Charm, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, and many special friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Starlight Church of God in Christ located at 2800 Bob Hall Rd. Service time is 1:00 pm. Visitation begins at 12:00 noon until time of service.
