Tuesday in council chambers, Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll recognized two individuals with Crime Fighter Awards after they assisted an officer with a combative suspect back on May 14. Damien Verde and Regan Lavalle arrived after the officer called for help. Lavalle is also a member of the Vidor Explorers, a group of young people who aspire to become a first responder.
