The Orange County Go Texan Foundation has awarded $31,500 in scholarships to the following Orange County students.
Alexis Baumgartner graduated 7th in her class at West Orange-Stark High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, OAP All-Star Cast, and Drama Club. She took home 1st Place in Declamation in the Stark Foundation Reading Contest. She will be attending Texas A&M University to obtain her bachelor’s degree. She plans to further her studies by attending Texas A&M DVM Program.
Mariah Ammons ranked 11th in her class at Little Cypress Mauriceville. She participated in soccer, volleyball, and track. She was active in the Interact, Team Force, and Bear Believer Clubs. She will be attending LeTourneau University where she plans on majoring in Psychology with a focus on Child Life Specialist.
Natalie Dickens graduated Valedictorian of her class at Orangefield High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, UIL Math Team, and Choir. She will be attending Lamar University majoring in Biology/Pre-Med. Upon graduation, she will be attending Med School to obtain her degree in Pediatrics.
Hailey Stelly graduated from Vidor High School where she was Captain of the Vidor Pirate basketball team and a member of the track team. Hailey will be attending Lamar University majoring in Pre-Med. She will then attend medical school to obtain her degree in Pediatrics.
Christian Songe received the Special Angel’s Rodeo Scholarship. Christian graduated 4th in his class at Vidor High School. He was President of the National Honor Society, Treasurer of the Student Council, and received Honors for highest average in AP World History and AP English III. He will be attending the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Pre-Pharmacology.
Emily Brown received the Glenn Hughes Memorial Scholarship. Emily graduated from Little Cypress Mauriceville. She was the Student Council Historian, a member of the drill team, and an Intern in the Vet Tech Program. Emily plans on attending Lamar University to obtain her degree in Pre-Veterinary studies.
The Houston Livestock Show Scholarship for Houston Rodeo was awarded to Chloe Henry. She ranked 4th in her class at Little Cypress Mauriceville. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Interact Club, and Rotary Youth Leadership. She also participated in Basketball, Track, and Tennis. She will be attending Texas A&M University majoring in Biology. Upon graduating she will continue her studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston to obtain her Orthopedic Physicians Assistance Certification.
