Mr. Westly Papillion was born on January 26th, 1939, to Andrew Papillion and Enola Papillion in Mallet, Louisiana. Mr. Westly is the eldest of the fifteen siblings. At an early age, Mr. Westly relocated to Orange, TX, where he met his loving wife Letha of 57 years. In recent years, they relocated to Baytown, TX, to be closer to family.
Professionally, Mr. Westly was known for successfully operating many businesses throughout his life. He owned and operated Papillion’s Cement Finishing for over 40 years. Throughout his cement finishing career, he assisted in building numerous business establishments and residential properties throughout the
Golden Triangle and Southwest Louisiana area. Mr. Westly established many long-lasting relationships and dedicated clientele. He was known for his meticulous skills in the business and most would wait for his availability.
For many years Mr. Westly operated a BBQ restaurant where you could find some of the best links in the area. Up until his health complications, Mr. Westly would still fulfill link orders for long standing customers. If you ever frequented the BBQ restaurant on Park street, you probably received a fresh car detail at the carwash he owned and operated.
Personally, Mr. Westly was known for his generosity and a heart to assist those in need or the less fortunate. Mr. Westly would employ anyone who was willing to work, no matter the skill. Most often, he would ride around the city offering jobs
to the unemployed. On any given day, especially during the holiday season, you would find Mr. Westly with boxes of food in his truck passing them out to the less fortunate. It was not uncommon for Mr. Westly to extend open invitations to those in need for a daily meal. Mr. Westly was a man of few words, but his actions spoke loudly.
During Mr. Westly’s healthier years, you would find him supporting those Mighty Mustangs. He was a loyal and dedicated fan of both football and basketball for many years. In fact, he was recognized a few times with a fan award. If you wanted to start a conversation, the mention of the Mustangs would trigger a healthy discussion.
Mr. Westly leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife of 57 years, Letha Papillion.
