
David Sidney Hoffpauir, 75, of New Waverly, Texas went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2023. David passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. David was born on June 14, 1947, in Orange, Texas to the late John Donald Hoffpauir and Eula Trahan Hoffpauir.
David was a long-time rancher, cowboy, and fence builder. For 52 years, he managed ranches, herds, and did custom cow work for numerous people around Texas. His first love was his family. His second love was being horseback, penning or sorting cattle or anything that had to do with ranch life. He once said, “The most comfortable seat I ever sat in was my saddle.” David was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo cutting horse committee for over 50 years. He was active in the Walker County 4H horse club and lifetime member of the Walker County Fair Association. David was an inspiration in the lives of so many people. He was a mentor and a friend. He also was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather.
David was preceded in death by his father, John Donald Hoffpauir; his mother Eula Trahan Hoffpauir; and his brother John A. Hoffpauir.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Elaine Hoffpauir; Son Clay (Kathryn) Hoffpauir, Daughter Sharon (Leonard) Meeks; Sister Mary (Todd) Watrous, Donna (Chris) Kattner; Grandchildren, Samantha (Nathan) Faust, Jordan (Alyson) Davis, Blaine Hoffpauir, Brynn (Garrett) Marsh, Kamryn Zarate; Great Grandchildren, Jacklyn Kaye Davis and Swayde Elaine Faust; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Heritage Oak Funeral Home on April 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
