
A private celebration of the life of Margaret Hodge, 78, of Hughes Springs, formerly of Orange will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 with Bro. Randy Seybert of Church on the Rock of Daingerfield officiating. Services are entrusted to Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home of Daingerfield. Mrs. Hodge was born on November 29, 1944 to Alfred and Texas Theresa Miller. She passed away on Friday night, March 17, 2023 at her residence.
At a young age, she met the love of her life, Thomas Hodge. They married when she was 18 and were married for 60 years. She loved nature and serving as Park Ranger at Thousand Trails in Conroe. Her and her husband owned T J’s Grocery in Crystal Beach for several years. She was an assistant manager for the Oakwood Village and Chivas Square Apartments in Orange. She was very competitive in bowling and received the 500 Club Award. As much as she loved life, her dogs were the most special to her.
A loving, wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Aurelia Deutsch, Aline Leach, Faye Buyea and brother, Alfred Weldon Miller. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Thomas Hodge of Hughes Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Wilkerson and R.W. “Jr.” of Hughes Springs; son and daughter-in-law, James Hodge and Angela of Orange; grandchildren, Jennifer Hodge of Orange, James Hodge, Jr., and wife Natalie of Katy, Jared Hodge of Orange, Jeffrey Hodge of Orange, Katlyn Pirtle and husband Noah of Daingerfield, Jasmine Wilkerson of Hughes Springs; great-grandchildren, Julia Hodge, Jonah Pirtle; and bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Brenda Williams; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of cousins.
