Tuesday night Jackie Pickens called it a career as a 911 dispatcher at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Pickens said, “I’m sure gonna miss this console! 911 has been my life’s work for 32 years. Happy but nervous too! And for those that think it’s just a job or another day for me (move along) because if you don’t have compassion for your callers and the passion to do this type job then you might want to change careers before you burn out too fast.”
Sheriff Mooney said, “I have been honored to work with her all these years. She has done an outstanding job serving our community and the Sheriff’s Office. She has and will leave a long lasting impression that will last a lifetime on myself as well as Orange County. I am happy for her and hope she will enjoy her retirement. I will miss her.”
This was Pickens’ 10-42 (end of tour) announcement.
