The 2022 football season was filled with some great moments and many of them were provided by the young men below. We present the members of the All-KOGT Football Team. Thank you to the coaches who assisted us and congratulations to those who made the team.
We introduce our superlatives first. Our MVP, Cameron Dischler, had a season that will not be forgotten. He rushed for more than 2400 yards and 28 TD’s in leading the Bobcats to an undefeated District Championship. Coach Josh Smalley called him “the best player I’ve ever coached.”
Our Offensive Player of the Year, Da’Marion Morris, was a close second to Dischler for MVP. He not only had another great year running with and receiving the football, he also had a great season on defense for the Bears.
And speaking of defense, Texas Tech commit, Amier Washington, lived up to the preseason hype. He had a great season even though many teams did what they could to run away from the big defensive lineman.
Our Newcomers are good ones who will be back. Marcus Turner, Jr. had to, as they say “grow up quick” when he became the West Orange-Stark QB in Week 4. And he did as he showed improvement every week. The same can be said for Jackson Smith. Every time we broadcast the Bears we would say “14 on the tackle” and have to keep looking at the roster to find his name. By mid season, we knew who 14 was. And he also showed he could run the ball on offense so we can’t wait to see what these two will do next season.
Our Coach of the Year is Josh Smalley, who was quick to credit his coaching staff with the success the Bobcats had this season. An undefeated district campaign and the first outright district title since 1988.
