The Bridge City Cardinals traveled to Little Cypress-Mauriceville Tuesday for an afternoon matinee and the red and white went home with a 63-62 district win over the 16th ranked Bears.
BC held the lead at the half (29-26) and through most of the third and fourth quarters. But the Bears didn’t looked panic as they finally made a run and tied the game at 57 after a bucket by Alantheon Winn with 2:40 left.
But the Cards wouldn’t go away. Big three’s down the stretch by Fernando Rodriguez and Aiden Guitierrez. Also two big free throws by Jagger Carlin to give BC a 63-60 lead.
Walker Britten led the way for BC with 19 points including 10-10 from the free throw line. Rodriguez added 16 including 12 in the second quarter. For LCM, Ben Elliott had 18, Alantheon Winn fouled out with 14, and Noah Fuller 13.
BC (1-1) will host Vidor Jan. 10. LCM (0-1) will play at Vidor on Friday.
