Positions on the May 9 ballot for the Pinehurst municipal election were determined Wednesday. T. W. Permenter was the only candidate present and was allowed to draw for his position on the ballot. Permenter drew the number two. Incumbents Dan Barclay and then Dan Mohon were drawn by a neutral bystander with City Secretary Debbie Cormier officiating. Barclay will be fourth and Mohon will be third on the ballot. Sarah McLendon’s name will be first on the ballot. The four candidates are running for three at-large positions on the Pinehurst City Council. Matthew Chandler the incumbent from the third seat resigned from the council on February 2.
Persons interested in helping to run Pinehurst have five more days to submit an application for the City Administrator’s position. Current City Administrator Joe Parkhurst handed his letter of resignation to the city council January 27 stating he would step down from the position in the very near future. Parkhurst indicated he would stay to help choose and then train his replacement. Cormier estimates about 20 applications for city administrator have been received by Pinehurst so far. The deadline for submitting an application is 5:00 PM on March 9.
