Former Texas A&M football coach and Stark High grad R.C. Slocum announced Monday that he is cancer free after a year and a half battle.
“I want to give a shout out to my prayer warrior friends who have kept me lifted up. I had testing today at MD Anderson in Houston. My great doctor Nathan Fowler told me I was cancer free and said he would see me in 6 months. Talking about a Christmas present, I have already received mine. God is good.”
Slocum was diagnosed with a form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in June 2021.
R.C. Slocum is the winningest football coach in Texas A&M history with an overall record of 123-47-2 in 14 years. He was named to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 2012.
