Bridge City’s Kassidy Wilbur has decided against a fifth year at Stephen F. Austin because of injury but will leave as its most decorated pitcher.
Wilbur told Extra Inning Softball that she had offseason surgery and was not cleared to resume softball activities, prompting her playing retirement. The 2023 season would have been her “super senior” season because the NCAA said that 2020 would not count against an athlete’s eligibility, because of the pandemic.
The two time conference pitcher of the year collected 847 strikeouts at SFA and posted a lifetime 2.28 ERA. She recorded 30 wins during the 2021 campaign and finished her career with 79 victories.
Wilbur is currently coaching at a school in Nacogdoches.
