SUBVARSITY
Orangefield JV 24
Kirbyville JV 0
What do you get on a cold, rainy Friday evening subvarsity game between two undefeated teams? An exciting, hard fought football game for everyone in attendance. The Orangefield JV Bobcats continued their perfect season defeating the previously, undefeated host Kirbyville Wildcats 24-0. The first quarter saw both teams feeling each other out early. The Bobcats marched down the field with runs from Ashton Sumrall, Rylan McAlpin, Kyler Green, and Kaleb Menard. The offense would get a touchdown called back and then get stopped on a 4th down play. The Bobcat defense would bend but not break all evening. The Wildcats would have the ball at the end of the 1st quarter and beginning of the 2nd quarter. The defense would have a big stop on a 4th down play in Bobcat territory to give the ball back to the offense The offense would again move the ball down the field thanks in part to an amazing catch by Sawyer Alfaro from Zach Morrow. Menard would then run in for a touchdown. Menard scored the 2-point play and the Bobcats led 8-0. Kirbyville would drive down the field late in the 2nd quarter again but the Bobcat defense would stop them in the red zone to take the lead at halftime.
The Bobcats came out in the 3rd quarter and surprised Kirbyville onside kick. Menard would make a big hit causing the fumble and Camden Hare would get the fumble recovery. The offense would be stopped but the defense again came up big. Steyle Spurlock intercepted a pass at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter would begin and the Bobcat offense would go to work. Sumrall, Menard, and Green would lead the charge. Menard would then score a touchdown again as well as run in the 2-point conversion to extend the Bobcat lead to 16-0. The Wildcats would try to rally but a fumble recovery from Robert McKay put an end to the drive. The Bobcat offense would then get a big, 50 yard touchdown run from Menard. Menard would score the 2-point conversion and the Bobcats would go up 24-0. The defense would hold the Wildcats one last time to secure the win. Defensive standouts were McAlpin, Spurlock, Colton Michael, Austin Rickenbrode, Sumrall, Colt Longron, and Menard. Offensive standouts were Kim Tsan, Edgar Bernal, Sumrall, Menard, and the quarterback duo of Carson Worthy and Morrow.
The JV Bobcats move to 9-0 overall, 5-0 District. The JV Bobcats host East Chambers next Thursday in the season finale.

The special teams units also had a nice night as Breeden had a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown, led by a big block from Alex Chappell. Garrett Worthy added the extra point to end the scoring for the Cardinals.
