Clovis Lawrence Doucet
It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that our Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, and friend, Clovis Lawrence “C.L.” Doucet left his earthly life and reunited with family and friends that went before him on September 1, 2022. C.L. was born in Jennings, LA on July 19, 1938, to the union of Moise Doucet and Emma Landry Doucet. C.L. held many roles in his life a Farmer-Rice, Soybean, and Cattle, Milchem, Lake Arthur Butane, Self Employed-Hard Hat Hauling (Hauling Dirt, Limestone, Sugarcane). You could always spot him with his white hard hat, hence the name of his company…Hard Hat Hauling, as well as delivery driver for Flowers by Julie and Supervisor for My Sister’s Flowers and a great provider for his family. C.L. also held many titles/nicknames during his lifetime, C.L. as most people knew him, Hard Hat, and by far his favorite, Bop. He loved the outdoors and most of the time you could find him outside fiddling with something or other. C.L. loved the time he was able to spend with his family making memories, laughing and just have a good time, and was always there to lend a helping hand if someone needed. C.L. was a kind and generous man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
C.L. is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Bergeaux (Todd) of Jennings, LA; his two grandchildren, Laiha Bergeaux Moreau (Jon Taylor) of Carencro, LA, Christian Bergeaux (Mallory Deshotel) of Jacksonville, AR; his great grandson, Remington Lane Deshotel; as well as a host of nieces, nephews & the Flower shop Girls.
C.L. was preceded in death by his wife & love of his life, Celeste “Sally” Doucet; his daughter, Julie Doucet Courrege; his parents, Moise & Emma Doucet; his sister Velma Doucet Belair; his half-brother, Clifton Doucet.
A Celebration of C.L.‘s life will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Monday, September 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating. Burial will follow in Raymond Hathaway Community Cemetery.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, September 5, 2022, at 8:00 AM and continue until the time of his Service at 11:00 AM.
