Wayne Conrad Hudson, Sr., age 88 of Devil’s Pocket, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home with Reverend Damon Bickham officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Suddeth Bluff Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home.
Most people knew him as Conrad. He was born May 19, 1934 in Elmer, Louisiana. He moved to DeQuincy, Louisiana around the age of 13. Conrad graduated from DeQuincy High School in 1953. He joined the United States Navy in 1955 and served 2 years at Atsugi Naval Air Base in Japan. He was then transferred to a base in Jacksonville, Florida. After discharge he spent 4 years in the Naval Reserves. Conrad was very proud of the time he served his country.
Upon returning home he went to work at the paper mill in Evadale, Texas where he worked for 37 1/2 years. After retirement, he spent time fishing, growing corn, and spending time with family. He enjoyed listening to music in his workshop.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Lorraine Williams Hudson, parents, Edward (Bud) and Mae Hudson of DeQuincy, LA, step-son Timothy Chad Williams of Deweyville, TX, and sisters Edwina Cole and Hallie Cooley of DeQuincy, La. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Elizabeth Perkins Williams Hudson, son Wayne C. Hudson, Jr., daughter Cheri Hudson Hester and husband Ronnie Joe Hester, step-daughter Melissa (Missy) Williams Keenon, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.
Serving as pallbearers will be RJ Hester, Caden Curry, Anthony Smith, Trevor Keenon, Matthew Williams and Michael Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Williams, Luke Hudson, Trevor Hudson Charles (Wig) Williams, Ricky Cole, and Ronnie Joe Hester.

A gathering of family and friends will be held after the burial service at Hartburg Baptist Church.
