The Orange Rotary Club installed a new President Tuesday as Kristin Placette (right) takes over after a busy year under Amy Peevey (left).
Peevey credited her board as she stepped down. The club accomplished much with approximately 12 service projects completed and eight new members were brought in. Peevey also handled her duties while delivering a new baby to the Peevey family.
The club also had to deal with adversity after Robert’s Restaurant burned in July. The restaurant was home to weekly Rotary meetings. The Salvation Army stepped up and offered a room to the Rotary Club with local restaurants catering food. For their efforts, Rotary gave a check to Frankie Zuniga of the Salvation Army in appreciation.
Placette takes over during a busy time in her own life. She’s the Chamber President this year and recently was promoted to Chief Financial Officer at Sabine Federal Credit Union.
District Governor Becky Mason swore in Placette and her board that includes Heather Montagne, Sarah Boehme, Sue Denosowicz, Sherry Hommel, David May, and Gracie Henry.
Henry was recognized for her many years as executive secretary and the glue that holds the club together. Also Eddie Toohey was recognized for keeping his streak alive with 31 years perfect attendance.
