
The Bridge City Athletic Banquet was held Monday night. Athletes were recognized in both team and individual sports. In the big awards of the night, Ethan Oceguera was named the male athlete of the year and Caryss Carpenter was named the female athlete of the year. Also honored was the comeback player of the year Shaun Hallman who has battled and beat cancer. The award will also be known as the Shaun Hallman Comeback Player Award.

MVP-Caryss Carpenter
She broke an over 30 year old record in the 100 h. She received 4 gold medals and one bronze at the district meet. Long jump, triple jump, high jump, 4x 100 and the 100h. She was a area qualifiers only 5 events, regionals qualifier in 3 events, regional champion and state qualifier in 100 hurdles and High Jump!
Runner-
Chelsea Petree- she received 3 medals at the district meet. 2 silvers and a bronze. She was area qualifier in 3 events, 100, 200 and 4×100 meter relay. She was a Regional Qualifier in the 200.
Kaylyn Dosch-she also received 3 medals at the district meet. In the 800, 300 hurdles, and 800. She was an area qualifier in 800 and 300 hurdles. She was a regional qualifier in the 800.
Field Eventer-Morgan Louvier she was a district champion in pole vaults. She received 5 medals at the district meet. She was an area qualifier in 4 events. She was a regional qualifier in 2 events, triple jump and pole vault. She placed 4 at regionals in pole vault.
New comer- Nicole Sasser
She was a 4 sport varsity letterman. She was a 5 events athlete for me. Long jump, triple jump, 4×100, 100 m and 4x 200. She was an Area qualifier.
Heart-
Holly Silveira- she is a fantastic hurdler, she dropped her hurdle time by 6 sec since the beginning of the year. Holly leads by example and puts in the time. She is a great teammate. She was an Area qualifier.
Whitney Cunningham- she will put in the time and do the work. She will stay late until she gets in right. She is a leader! She wants to be great at throwing. She was a area qualifier in the discus and just missed making it to regionals this year. But she improved 30 feet since start of the season.
