
The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce proudly recognized Jessica Clare Hughes as Student of the Month for Deweyville High School. Jessica is the daughter of Anna Hughes and the late Bill Hughes, She is ranked in the top ten percent of her graduating class and plans to attend Texas A&M University majoring in Elementary Education. “If I had to choose only one quality to describe this remarkable individual it would be kind. Jessica always has a smile and a kind word for you.” – Dana Moore, National Honor Society sponsor.
Jessica’s accomplishments at DHS include: National Honor Society president, Student Council secretary, member of Pirate Coalition, active member in Deweyville 4-H and FFA, crowned DHS 2021 Miss Merry Christmas, Homecoming Queen and Duchess candidate, Varsity Softball 4 years, and Class Favorite of her Senior Class. Hughes was chosen to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening weekend camp in January. After the interview process, Jessica was invited to attend next year as a camp counselor.
