
Kenneth “Buddy” Clay Brown, age 82 of Orange, Texas, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Services to honor Buddy will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Bunch officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Old Dorman Cemetery in Orange, Texas off of Tulane Road. Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home.
Buddy was born on April 20, 1939 in Orange, Texas to parents Linnie Gryder Brown and Paul J. Brown. He graduated from Orangefield High School and served his country in the United States Coast Guard and Coast Guard Band. Buddy worked in the maintenance engineering department for many different hospitals. Buddy enjoyed his job and was very good at what he did. Buddy and his wife Beverly were long time members of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Bridge City, Texas. Buddy could fix almost anything he set his mind to. He believed in repairing before giving up and throwing it out. Buddy also had the wonderful gift to play the drums. He played with many different bands around SETX, including the Midnight Riders, the Ally Cats and The Reflections. On numerous occasions he was called to fill in for drummers for well-known bands such as the Platters and he was also called in to play for a New York City band at the Jack Tar in Orange, TX. Buddy and Beverly were very active in 2 motorcycle clubs and van clubs where he won several outstanding awards such as raising funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in Houston, TX. His third-place prize was a motorcycle at the event. He also acclaimed numerous awards for “Best of Show” for his “Boogie Van”. Buddy will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Linnie Brown, sister Pauline Roberts and her husband Calvin, father and mother-in-law John and Helen Campbell, Sr., son-in-law Mark Benoit.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Beverly Campbell Brown of Orange, TX, daughters, Barbara Gail Benoit of Katy, TX and Pamela Kristine Quast and her husband Pete of Orange, TX, sisters, Patricia Ann Brown of Orangefield, TX and Janie Gene Alexander and her husband Lee of Lafayette, LA, grandchildren; Richard “Ricky” Clay Benoit and his wife Larissa of Katy, TX, Markus Wayne Benoit and his wife Christine of Waller, TX, Emily Kristine Welch and her husband Aaron of Orangefield, TX, Jeana Linnee DeLaney and her husband Jason of Cypress, TX and Seth Harlan Quast of Katy, TX, great grandchildren Tylor Hargrave, Sophia Benoit, Drake Welch, Gavin DeLaney, Elijah Benoit, Hannah Benoit, Sawyer Welch and Maverick DeLaney, brother-in-laws; Ray Campbell and Carolyn of Orange, TX, Jerry Campbell and Gail of Orange, TX and John Campbell, Jr. of Houston, TX, his beloved doxie dog and nurse Bella and numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
Pallbearers to honor Buddy will be Richard “Ricky” Clay Benoit, Markus Wayne Benoit, Aaron O’Bryan Welch, Jason Paul Ochsner, Seth Harlan Quast and Brian Donnell Bronson. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Alexander, Jason DeLaney, John H. Campbell, III and Benjamin Campbell.
