Jesus said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
John 11:25
Our cowboy, Charles Richard Granger, Sr., 83, born and raised in Orange, Texas, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on the afternoon of January 19, 2022.
A country boy at heart, he lived his years providing for his wife and three children as a farmer, rancher, and welder. Along with riding bulls and being known as an admirable roper, he loved to dance the jitterbug, hunt deer, and be the taste tester of the family! His favorite was backstrap and homemade vanilla ice cream. He cherished Sunday lunches after church with his family and the moments spent watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. He was a member of Winfree Baptist Church where he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at age 78. The family finds comfort knowing that he will spend the rest of eternity with God Almighty.
He is survived by his precious bride of 62 years, Gloria Faye Russell, his daughter, Charla Thomas and husband, Neville, of Orange, son, Ed Granger and wife, Carol, of Orange; grandchildren Tiffany Thomas and husband, Jeff, of Bridge City, Ashlyn Granger of Orange, Kelsey Harrison and husband, Chad, of Inez, Chason Granger of Orange, Morgan Granger of Bridge City, Madison Granger of Bridge City; great grandchildren Vance and Kylie Thomas of Bridge City, Emmery Golemon of Bridge City, London and Lincoln Harrison of Inez, CJ Granger of Orange, Leighton Granger of Bridge City; and sister, Bobbie Areno and husband, JP, of Sulphur.
Charles was preceded in death by his son, Charles Richard Granger, Jr., parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Granger, siblings, Janie Gordy, Rita Cotton, Tommy Granger, Marcella Granger-Nelson, Ann Stouffer, Jean Eastep, Jeannie Turpin, and Loretta Granger Black.
We would like to sincerely thank Intrepid Hospice for their compassion and care of our beloved husband, Daddy, and PawPaw during these difficult days.
A celebration of his life will be held at Winfree Baptist Church in Orange, Texas on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Come spend time with the family to reminisce about the good ol’ days and share any stories you may have. These memories will be greatly treasured by the family he leaves behind who will love and miss him forever.
Jesus answered him,
“Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
