
Cities in Orange County had a drop in the October sales tax receipts this year compared to last year, but most still have an increase in payments for the year to date.
The Texas Comptroller’s Office has sent the payments to entities that collect sales taxes. Vidor was the only city up from October last year, but only with about $5,000 more for a 1.92 percent increase. Orange County had a monthly increase of nearly 10 percent.
In October 2020, people in the county were repairing after Hurricane Delta and from Hurricane Laura. Sales taxes have increased to entities in months after storms have hit.
The payments are:
Bridge City (1.5 percent tax): $146,716 for October compared to $159,850 for October last year, a decrease of 8.21 percent. $2.08 million for the year to date compared to $1.95 million last year, an increase of 6.64 percent.
Orange (1.5 percent tax): $474,756 for October compared to $523,841 for October last year, a decrease of 9.37 percent. $6.83 million for the year to date compared to $5.79 million last year, an increase of 17.88 percent.
Pinehurst (1.5 percent tax): $44,729 for October compared to $54,859 for October last year, a decrease of 18.46 percent. $699,114 for the year to date compared to $702,100 last year, a decrease of 0.42 percent.
West Orange (1.25 percent tax): $98,168 for October compared $103,600 for October last year, a decrease of 5.24 percent. $1.33 million for the year to date compared to $1.19 million last year, an increase of 11.86 percent.
Orange County (0.5 percent tax): $529,600 for October compared to $482,024 for October last year, an increase of 9.86 percent. $6.52 million for the year to date compared to $5.75 percent last year, an increase of 13.38 percent.
OC Emergency Services District 3 (Little Cypress Fire Department) (1.5 percent tax): $14,196 for October compared to $22,689 for October last year. $257,991 for the year to date compared to $272,071 last year, a decrease of 5.17 percent.
