The Celebration of Life for Mr. John Chevis, 83, of Beaumont, TX, will be Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 10am during a Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Rites of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 until 10am.
John Chevis was born November 4, 1937, in Opelousas, LA to Mary Woods Chevis and Alma Chevis. He passed November 1, 2021, in Beaumont, TX.
Moving to Orange, TX, he graduated from Emma H. Wallace High School.
His working years were spent as a Welder and Pipefitter at the former Levingston Shipyard.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Rose Chevis, brother, Calvin Lee (Boo) Knolley and son Kent Romero Chevis.
He is survived by his wife, Eola Chevis, son, Romero Chevis of Orange, daughters Vanessa Johnson and Bonita Chevis, both of Beaumont, TX, brothers, Jessie Chevis of Houston, TX and Roy Knolley of Orange, sister, Odessa Johnson of Orange, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
