Michael Wynne Sellars, 75 years old, of Orange Grove Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 18, 1946, Michael’s childhood was spent in Orange, Texas. He enjoyed being a boy scout, playing sports, fishing, and camping with childhood friends. Upon entering adulthood, Michael found his passion for life through Pastoral Ministries. He attended Lutcher Stark High School and proceeded to complete his Associate’s Degree from Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute. He continued his education by completing a Bachelor’s Degree in religion from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. He then completed his Graduate Degree in liberal arts from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. Michael was blessed with meeting his spouse, Brenda Williams Sellars in Scottsville, Kentucky where they later married on July 26, 1969. They spent 52 years together building their family and loving each other unconditionally. Michael’s career within the Church led him to serve ministries in Kentucky, Ohio, and Texas. His connection with people also led him to teach English at Texas A&I University, Embry Riddle, Park Universities NAC CC, and at the Coastal Bend College campuses in Beeville and Alice, Texas. After serving his community in both ministry and education, he retired in August 2013 and opened Guns and More in Orange Grove, Texas. This allowed him to enjoy working with others in areas of interest regarding sports, hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. Michael enjoyed learning new things and was an avid researcher. In his spare time, he would find interest in learning about new topics as well as revisiting his interpretation of the Bible and world views. He kept numerous journals and writings, which his family will cherish because they portray his thoughts and ideas as an individual always searching for new answers and understanding. Those who knew Michael would say that he was approachable and was someone who could read a room. He loved to spend time with his family, and he enjoyed joking with others, as this was his way of connection in a non-professional environment. He was called “Pawpaw” by his grandchildren and they were the center of his world whenever they were around. His family will miss his banter and the laughter that was created from the time that they spent together. Michael is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Sellars; his parents, Manning and Gloria Sellars; his two brothers, Johnny Sellars and Tim Sellars; and his sister-in-law, Desiree Sellars. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sellars; his daughters, Kim Sellars (Hunter Dunn) and Stephanie Sellars (Lincoln Odoms); his grandson, David Sellars (Kelsey Sellars); his great-grandchildren, Ayden Sellars, Andrew Sellars, and Austin Sellars; his sister, Connie Buckalew (Sherwood); and multiple nephews and nieces. Public Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with a Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 pm.
