Bridge City Middle School football traveled to Anahuac Thursday night and came away with two wins.
The 8th grade team won 28-18. The offense was led by Abraham Munguia who had three long touchdown receptions. Austin Frederick also had a touchdown reception. Quarterbacks Max Pachar (Three TD passes), Carson Sauceda (one TD pass, and Hunter Ford played well on offense as well.The offensive line was led by Jonah McElroy, Jack Scales, Connor Riojas, and Brady Havard. The defense was led by Braxton, Lynam, Trey Bradley, Kolby Leblanc, and Chris Wagner had a fumble recovery. The 8th grade team improves to 1-1 on the season.
The 7th grade team won 6-0. Offensive leaders were Keagan Trahan, Alex Chappell, Slade Landry, Drake Blackwell, Joel Williams, Reece Skinner had the only touchdown on the night for Big Red. The defense was led by Luke Nelson (two interceptions), Drake Blackwell (one interception), Alex Chappell, Hudson Hoffman, and Caleb Heraldez. The 7th grade team improves to 1-1 on the season.
The teams will travel to Lumberton next week.

The fighting Bobcats were on the prowl again as they took on the Buna Cougars.
Seventh grade took the field first with some fresh faces looking to build off of last week. The scoring parade started with Carson Gonzales gashing the defense for big yardage on the way to his first touchdown. On the next possession, it was Cylan Granger’s turn to tote the rock, bulldozing his way for a rushing touchdown. Kale Spears plunged into the endzone and converted both of his two-point conversions. Then it was time for the man of the hour, Coach Drouillard, to dig into his bag of tricks for the first time this year. Coach Drouillard dialed up a pass down the sideline to Jackson Luker, who made a beautiful toe-tapping catch to set up another Gonzales touchdown. The defense had a few hiccups early, but figured it out at halftime only allowing the Cougars to score twice. Cole Sanches, Kessler Briggs, Kade Canizaro, and John Clark anchored the defense and led the way to a second-half shut-out. The hit of the night for the seventh grade also goes to Gonzales for the crushing blow he delivered which forced a fumble. After the 30-16 victory, the Bobcats moved to 2-0 on the season.
The 8th graders were ready to right the ship from last week and finally put some points on the board. Mason Manning added another highlight to his reel with an amazing 63 yard punt return, where he cut back across the field and turned on the afterburners on his way to the endzone. Carson Worthy put up some fantastic numbers scoring through the air and on the ground. His pass went to Rylan McAlpin who made a beautiful catch and ran it in from 36 yards out. Kaleb Menard entered the game and lowered his shoulder getting the Bobcats close enough for Worthy to sneak in from one yard out. Menard followed Worthy’s touchdown with a two-point conversion. For the first time as a Bobcat, Peyton Revia was able to find his way into the endzone. Later in the game, Kyler Green stepped in at quarterback and flashed his speed around the edge, converting multiple two-point conversions and rushing for about 50 yards. The hit of the night for the eighth grade belongs to Kim Tsan, who took out a would-be tackler, springing Easton Sprayberry on one of his long runs. The defensive unit, led by our linebacking core of Matthew Johnson, Judd Tynes, Logan Trero, Kaleb Menard, and Easton Sprayberry, made sure the Cougars were kept off of the scoreboard securing the 30-0 victory.
Next week, both teams will look to stay undefeated at home as the Silsbee Tigers come to town.
