The city of Orange is full of construction projects underway and include a new recreation center, a new professional building, plus a major remodeling of buildings at an apartment complex.
Building permits issued in May show the city is leading the value of the construction with the new recreation center at 1405 Orange Avenue in the historic district. The site once had the World War II USO center, which was demolished, and then the natatorium built.
The city got a permit to demolish the natatorium and a permit for construction. The recreation center is valued at $2.93 million and N&T Construction is the contractor.
Eryn M. Lucas is building a professional office valued at $298,000 at 823 Henderson Avenue near the courthouse. NSC Construction is the contractor.
LNC Orange received three permits totally about $961,000 to remodel three buildings of the apartment complex at 3333 Ridgemont Drive. The contractor is Gambit Construction.
The Assembly of God Church, 3400 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, is undergoing a kitchen remodeling valued at $200,000.
Also, Mann Insurance, 1505 Park Avenue, is having $127,000 worth of repairs after Hurricane Laura. A new deck worth $3,000 was built at 84 Green Avenue, and GTE Mobilenet had $25,000 worth of cell phone tower upgrades at 2010 DuPont Drive.
The city issued residential permits for 11 Laura repairs to houses along with one repair for damage by the winter storm.
Two new houses are being built. The city does not list their values. A 1,952-square-foot house is going up on Black Oak Drive, and a 2,671-square-foot house is at New York Avenue.
Reliable Restoration, 2250 Gloria Drive, has a permit for an $18,000 concrete driveway. The city issued five permits for residential concrete work.
