Two people were wounded by gunshots during an outdoor brouhaha at a West Orange apartment complex Saturday night.
Assistant West Orange Police Chief Jesse Romero said a woman was shot in the leg and taken by ambulance to a Beaumont hospital. The injury is not life-threatening. Also, a man had a gunshot wound and went to a local emergency center.
Romero said the shots fired about 10 p.m. Saturday at the Whispering Oaks Apartments on Western Avenue came from a handgun.
He said two women were arguing and their family members got involved. Someone who was not involved in the disturbance began firing. Officers from Orange, Bridge City, Pinehurst, and the county sheriff’s office helped West Orange police collect the bullets and mark locations.
Romero said people involved are not cooperating with the investigation and no one wants to file charges.
