
The Orange Police Department is investigating two robberies that occurred on Memorial Day, May 31. One robbery was of a business the other was of an individual.
Officer Tim Pruitt was dispatched at 9:57 PM on Monday to the Star Stop convenience store at 1104 W. Burton Avenue. Pruitt was advised that a black male wearing a brown full jump suit and a mask had displayed a firearm and demanded money.
An employee at the Star Stop gave the description of the suspect and told the officer the suspect fled the store on foot headed toward north Tenth Street. The employee said the suspect took an undetermined amount of cash. No arrest has been made at this time.
The second robbery occurred at about 11:30 PM at 4750 Meeks Drive at the International Village Apartments. Officer Jason Guidroz was told by the complainant that two suspects dressed in black took a cell phone and a sterling silver necklace. One of the suspects had a gun when they demanded the stolen items.
On Sunday, the Orange Police answered two calls within an hour on Dewey Avenue. Officer A. J. Grantham was dispatched at 2:11 AM to the 400 block of Dewey Avenue in reference to an aggravated assault that involved a gunshot. The domestic violence involved someone firing a gunshot in the air. There were no injuries and no damage in the incident.
While working that call Orange Police officers were then dispatched to the 200 block of Dewey Avenue because of a car alarm going off. A 2012 purple Nissan Altima was found with a broken front windshield. The vehicle was identified as stolen from Baldwin, Louisiana.
Also under investigation is a sexual assault reported to the Orange Police Department on Friday, May 28.  The victim told police she knows the suspect.  No arrest has been made.
