Carl Jr. entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. He was born May 12, 1957 to Carl Platt Sr. and Helen J. Platt, in Elizabeth, Louisiana. Carl was the fourth child of twelve children.
He attended public schools in Allen Parish, Louisiana and Orange, Texas. Carl was a 1975 graduate of Lutcher Stark High School. He graduated college in 1979 from Prairie View A&M University with a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education from the College of Industrial Education and Technology. Carl was an excellent student in his studies and received several educational honors. One of those recognitions was in the 1978-79 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges”, carried his name from Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, Texas. Carl was selected as being among the country’s most outstanding campus leaders based on his academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and future potential in employment. He joined this nationally recognized elite group of students selected from more than 1,000 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, including the District of Columbia and several foreign nations.
Carl Jr. was employed with Beaumont Independent School District and West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District as a Technical Trade and Wood Shop Teacher. Further working years until his retirement was with, A. Schulman International, Inc. Company as a Process Operator.
He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. Carl supported his parents and siblings all through the years, encouraging education and certifications for skilled labor. His wood-smith craft would often lead him to supplying a house full of furniture to his “parents delight” of dining and coffee tables, china cabinets, desks, and bookshelves. He enjoyed gardening which included several vegetables cooked by his mother’s loving hands, fishing which included cleaning and frying them “immediately” for the best taste, and cookouts with family and friends. Carl Jr. would often surprise his younger siblings with Saturday evening fun of tacos from Taco Bell and “coin tosses” with his brothers, known to them as “Let’s Play Scramble”.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl Platt Sr., his brother, Lionel Platt, and his son, Gabriel “Gabe” Anthony Platt.
He leaves to cherish most precious memories with his loving mother, Mrs. Helen J. Platt of Orange, Texas; Six brothers, Andrew L. Platt (Eva), Calvin Platt (Deatrice), Ralph L. Platt, Tommy W. Platt, Warren “Jack” Platt (Zena), and Nathan H. Platt; Four sisters, Marva Ann Paul, Sharon Y. Platt, Linda F. Platt-Bryant, and Almetria Platt- Deon (Marvin); Two special cousins raised with his family, Roslyn Cole (Mark) and Robert Jones (Tina).
A host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and family friends will forever cherish his memory.
