The Celebration of Life for Mr. James C. Mims, 93, of Orange, will be held during a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, March 26, 2021 at 10 am at St. Therese Catholic Church.
Rites of Christian Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleums under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 until 10am.
Guidelines regarding Social Distancing and the Wearing of Mask to be observed at all services.
James Charles Mims was born September 9, 1927, in Orange, Texas to Leona Antoine Mims and Zach Mims. He entered eternal rest March 17, 2021, at the age of 93.
In Orange, Texas James, known by many as “J.C.”, met the love of his life, Elvina Jackson. They shared 63 years of marriage. From their union and came six children, three boys and three girls.
He retired from Levingston Shipbuilding Company as a Custodian after many years of service. He later worked at the Orange County Courthouse until his illness prevented him from doing so.
Along with his parents, Leona and Zach Mims, James was preceded in death by his loving wife Elvina Mims, one son, Elder Adrian C. Mims, two brothers, Samuel Mims, and Eddie Mims, three sisters, Mary High, Florida Williams, and Elsie Greer, and four grandchildren, Mironda Mims, Mathew Green, Dylinda Herbert, and Gary Mims Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory five children, James P. Mims (Brenda), Elizabeth Campbell, Gary Mims, Regina Cameron (Ron), and Belinda Green, 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild
