The November monthly meeting of the West Orange City Council is scheduled for this afternoon. The appointment of a new City Attorney will be included on the agenda.
Mayor Roy McDonald has announced Chris Leavins of the Germer Law Firm to fill the position effective December 1, 2020. The appointment will need the approval of the City Council to go into effect.
The vacancy is being created by the resignation of Rex Peveto as the current City Attorney. Peveto was elected in the Republican Primary held in March and had no opponent in the recent General Election this month to replace the retiring Dennis Powell as the 163rd District Judge in Orange County on January 1, 2021.
In other business Orange County Tax Assessor-Collector Karen Fisher will submit the 2020 Delinquent Tax Roll and the current Tax Roll for the City of West Orange to the council for its approval. The meeting will be held in the West Orange Community Center located on Austin Street behind the City Hall beginning at 5 o’clock.
All city offices in West Orange will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans’ Day.
