New Mural Unveiled
The Orange Public Library has reopened with the relaxing of restrictions imposed by the state of Texas because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The library has a new wall of books to see and you do not even need to go into the library itself.
On the north side of the Orange Public Library is a mural painted by Terry Bussinger depicting several popular books as if they were on a bookshelf. The mural makes for a great photo opportunity which even has a photographer’s spot circled on the sidewalk for the best angle.
Orange librarian Brenna Manasco said the selection of books in the mural were chosen by her and Bussinger. “He picked a few things he liked, I picked some, we clashed a little bit, but it all came out really good, and I’m really proud of it,” Manasco commented.
One book is fictious entitled NVS, which is actually the artist’s signature since his company is named NVS-Ink Art Studio. Bussinger has done murals in his hometown of Vidor including the animal shelter there.
Manasco credited Orange City Manager Mike Kunst who formerly was the city manager in Vidor for the idea of the mural. “The project is done in hopes that maybe some other businesses around Orange will follow suit with some other art,” Manasco reminded.
The Orange Public Library is located in downtown on Fifth Street between Main and Front Streets. The mural is facing Main Street between two stairs leading up to the main entrance of the library.
