Helen Purvis Bass, 90, of Orange, passed away on April 21, 2020, at her home.
Born in Guthrie, Oklahoma, on February 14, 1930, she was the daughter of Ray and Inez Purvis. Helen was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she served her Lord faithfully. She received her homemaking major and enjoyed sewing – often making her children’s clothes. Helen loved to go fishing with her husband on the Sabine, and spending time with her beloved family. She was a great mother and a caring grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all those she came to know and love.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Howard Bass; parents, Ray and Inez Purvis; sisters, Rhaetta Purvis, and Patricia Anderson and family; brother in law, James Bass; and sister in law, Ginger Bass.
She is survived by her daughters, Jenni McJunkin and husband Daniel of Simonton, Sarah Torrez and husband Johnny of New Braunfels, Robin Newton and husband Jeff of Katy, and Rhaetta Gennusa and husband Frank of Orange; grandchildren, Scott McJunkin, Aaron McJunkin, Angelica Gennusa, Joseph Gennusa, and Taylor Gennusa; great grandchildren, Kylie Adams, James Adams, Katherine Adams, Jason Adams, and Olivia McJunkin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Homes.
