The Memorial Mass celebrating the life of Mr. Willie A. Oliver of Orange will be Saturday March 7, 2020 at 10 am at St. Therese Catholic Church under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home. Disposition will be cremation.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.
Willie Anthony Olivier age 82, passed Saturday morning, February 29, 2020 at his home. He was born January 21, 1938 in Saint Martinville, Louisiana to the late Joseph and Lorenza Olivier.
He moved to Orange, Texas at an early age where he lived for over 75 years. He was a graduate of the 1958 Class of Emma H. Wallace High School. After graduating he joined the United States Army. Willie was also a member of American Legion Post 616.
Willie worked at DuPont in construction for over 50 years as a Foreman. He was well respected and made many lifelong friends. He was a member of Labor Local Union 853.
Willie united with Saint Therese Catholic Church when he and his family relocated to Orange. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council 44. He was also a member of the Bereavement Committee at Saint Therese, where you could always find him at his post serving drinks. In his early years he coached the Saint Therese girls’ softball team and he played on the men’s team as well. He was a member of the Saint Therese Trail Riders. Willie was a faithful member up until his death.
Anyone who knew Willie can bear witness that he would do anything to help if he could. He was the one in the family who would come and sit with you for hours when you were sick. He was never coming empty handed, always blessing you with fruit, drinks and something from the many restaurants in the Golden Triangle. He and his nephew Peter had a very special bond.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Olivier Sr., mother, Lorenza Olivier, wife, Teddie Olivier, son, Joseph Olivier, brother, Joseph Olivier Jr., and his sisters, Rosella Roberson and Cecile Braud.
Forever cherishing his memories are his son, Michael Olivier of Chesapeake, VA, also raised as children, Leon Wright of Miami, Fl and Angela Perez of Philadelphia, PA, 4 grandchildren, Leon III, Christina, Joshua and Alana, 2 great grandchildren, Ariel and Amilia, goddaughter, Juanita Greer, godson, Willie Davis and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
