A 62-year-old man was severely beaten in his apartment this week but is expected to recover, said Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon.
Friday afternoon the man was in stable condition at a Houston hospital. Enmon said investigators think the man was beaten on New Year’s Eve by someone he knows.
A relative found the man in his unit at the James Zay Roberts complex at 610 Burton Avenue. The relative called for an ambulance and the Orange Fire Department medical responders.
Enmon said the man was taken by ambulance to a Beaumont hospital and then transferred to one in Houston.
The relative later went to the police department and the investigation began.
