How did the Federal Duck Stamp succeed as a government project?
Join Curator Sarah E. Boehme for a special Insights Lunch & Look on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Boehme will discuss how art bolstered the conservation goals of the project. Her slide talk will explore the careers of the first three Duck Stamp artists, Jay N. Darling, Frank W. Benson, and Richard Bishop. The presentation will consider how each of the three artists approached the stamp from a different vantage point. Their shared love of the sport of hunting united them in purpose. After the talk, attendees will have an opportunity to view the special exhibition Conservation Art: Federal Duck Stamps and Prints featuring work by artists Jay N. Darling, Frank W. Benson, and Richard Bishop. Participants are welcome to bring their own brown bag lunch. Coffee service will be provided throughout the presentation. FREE Admission.
