Tropical Storm Harvey knocked them down but it didn’t take out the Real Southern Cooking Restaurant which reopens August 19, almost two years after Harvey hit Orange. The restaurant is located at 1111 Green Ave.
Mike and Jeanne Rhines have had friends, family and even the city of Orange help them get back into business. The cities Economic Development Corp. gave the Rhines’ a $55,000 grant.
Besides repairing the building and kitchen they have added a drive-thru for those on the go.
RSCR’s hours will be Mon-Fri 10:30-5:30. They’re closed on Saturday and Sunday they’re open 10:30-3:30.
The menu includes pork chops, chicken, ribs, beef tips, oxtails, pigs feet along with a daily special menu and Monday will be meatloaf for $8.99.
Desserts include Sweet Potato Pie, Peach Cobbler, and Pistachio “Green” cake.
