Orange police have recovered guns and other items stolen from vehicles in the Country Club area last week.
Three people have been arrested on unrelated charges but are believed to be connected with the thefts. Two men were arrested for unlawfully carrying firearms Tuesday morning after a patrol officer stopped them for walking on the wrong side of a street.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the theft victims should contact the police department to describe the items so they can be returned. Some things that were stolen have already been returned.
Officer N.R. Medina reported he stopped the two at 9:13 a.m. in the 600 block of Sholars Avenue. The men told him they had pistols. One had a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9 mm and the other had a Browning 1911 .380. Both guns had been reported stolen in the vehicle burglaries. Neither man had a license to carry a concealed handgun.
23-year-old Lawrence Richard III (center) of Orange was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon. 21-year-old Richard Jamal Crosley (left) of DeRidder was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm.
Captain Enmon said later in the afternoon, 19-year-old Andrew Meyer (right) was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
No one has been charged in connection with the vehicle thefts.
